Anyone,

I've lost audio on YouTube, BF4, everything.

The audio loss is accompanied by other events.

When I launch a YouTube video, I get the message at the top of the browser: A Pluggin- "Shockwave isn't responding", the message then disappears. After 30 secs or so, the video may start but without sound.

Other programs "stop responding" as well.

I was checking Windows sound and it stop responding too. A Windows and Soundblaster check both fail at producing audio.

I check the Windows system file with the command prompt: sfc /scannow After the scan, corrupted files were restored but it didn't fix the issues.

When I opened dxdiag, I got the error message: "Error, problem getting extra sound information".

Everything is fine in device manager.

I'm thinking it's either related to a Windows problem or Chrome.

System Info:

Windows 8.1

I7-4770K

Asus Maximus VI Hero

16 GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 1866

EVGA 780 SC ACX SLI

Samsung 840 EVO 1TB

Cosmos case

Astro A50 wireless headset

Corsair K-70 keyboard

Razer Deathadder mouse

Any help would be appreciated.

I found a solution!

I spent most of the day trying EVERYTHING. Then I remembered a program that never works but I thought I would try it anyway.

System Restore

It worked! Create those restore points. They just might save a re-install!
