Real-Life Army E-3 & E-4

Description:

Awarded to Real-Life Military Personnel

Issue Reason:

As a current/former member of the military, we award this ribbon for recognition and our thanks for being a part of the armed forces.

Issue Date:

2012-08-02

Distinguished Service Cross

Description:

This soldier must excel in all areas of Unknown Soldiers. He must participate in many areas of expertise, dedicating a significant amount of time and energy into maintaining and improving the clan as a whole.

Issue Reason:

SMA.VicVegas has served in the Unknown Soldiers for almost 8 and a half years, effectively an NCO that entire time, and the Senior Enlisted Advisor for almost 6 of those. During that time, he has been one of the most dependable and steadfast members this clan has ever seen, having been through its low as well as high points but either way a positive influence on everyone. Always ready to fight for his NCOs in front of anyone including the Clan CO, and always keeping JCS honest. Unfortunately, these last months have shown that real life is catching up with the Sergeant Major and pulling him away more and more. That said, his extremely long service in the clan merits high honors and recognition for the tireless hours, days, weeks, money, patience, and probably hair. I wouldn't want to see a total sum of how many hours he has spent working constantly for the clan even when it was the most frustrating thing he could be doing and even when it seemed to be for no payoff at that moment. If I saw a total sum of hours he has spent on behalf of the clan, it would probably put me to shame. So I will just leave it here: VicVegas has been one of our best. We can not thank him for everything he has done. With that, we award him one of the highest honors in the clan, the Distinguished Service Cross.

Staff Service Medal

Description:

This soldier has proven to be an outstanding example of unwavering adherence to the Code of Conduct within the clan.

Issue Reason:

This award is a long time coming, and comes with recommendation from someone who doesn't often give/recommend awards. SMA.VicVegas has been the example of NCO and Senior Enlisted Advisor since his Mentor, CW5.Ward promoted to Warrant. CW5.Ward put it best: "He's been running the NCOA since I took a step back which was right after the time we really started tracking the NCOA instructor qualifications and giving out the awards. Since sometime 2015, he's really been the driving force for the NCOs. It's really a thankless role in the clan that doesn't get awarded often and quickly becomes stale due to you repeating the same tasks each week, month and year." CW5 could not be more correct. SMA.VicVegas has thanklessly donated his time and efforts to every member of this clan. He is the example junior members should strive to be, and the mentor of all NCO's in the clan. He keeps all the officers, including GEN.Darmine and myself, in line and always does it with the utmost respect and use of customs and courtesies. We are truly thankful to have him as our Senior Enlisted Adviser. Along with the much deserved (and should have already had) NCO MTI Master ribbon, it is an honor to bestow upon SMA.VicVegas an award that has never been given. It was conceived for the purpose of and given to a "soldier (who) has proven to be an outstanding example of unwavering adherence to the Code of Conduct within the clan." If this does not fit SMA to a T, I do not know what does. It is truly fitting that the inaugural awarding of the Staff Service Medal be awarded to SMA.VicVegas!

Humanitarian Service Medal(issued 2 times)

Description:

A donation of any amount will earn a member this award. To receive additional installments of this award will require additional investment.

Issue Reason:

It always makes me proud to see those who are willing to donate hard earned money to this clan when called upon. We needed the cash to eventually upgrade the site(Ver 5.0) and we exceeded what we needed. I would like to sincerely thank all those who stepped up! Very much appreciated. With that I am awarding the following individuals the humanitarian medal!

Bronze Star(issued 4 times)

Description:

Individuals that go above and beyond the call of duty to provide service for Unknown Soldiers. These are actions that serve the clan in a manner that show personal responsibility and leadership initiative. Actions may include (but not subject or limited to) making daily effort to fill our servers, assisting new members, spending extra time to help officers and NCOs, organizing clan activities, etc.

Issue Reason:

Often when members advance in rank it is easy to say, "Good, you are doing your job," instead of "Congrats on doing a good job, here is an award!" This happens all the time to those who reach the rank of E9 and higher. It is often a thankless job, but a job we enjoy doing for the betterment of the clan. SMA has taken 7 days off and missed 1 meeting since taking the position of SMA, and it was a harsh reminder of everything he does in this clan and his role as Senior Enlisted Advisor. He and his NCO corp are the true backbones of this clan. For this it is an honor to award SMA.VicVegas the Brone Star, his Gold award for it. Thank you SMA for all you do!

Joint Service Achievement Award(issued 2 times)

Description:

This award goes to those who show leadership and initiative in areas that benefit the clan as a whole. Actions may include (but not subject or limited to) recruiting new members, leading practices and other events, volunteering to develop tutorials or manuals, training others in BCT/NCO/MOS, etc.

Issue Reason:

"those who show leadership and initiative in areas that benefit the clan as a whole" explains the Command Sergeant Major's initiative and drive perfectly. Overseeing a bi weekly NCO Meeting, taking the time to check static12 records, and simply meeting and chatting with members in TS are just a few examples of the CSM's dedication and love of the Unknown Soldiers.

Description:

This soldier has proven to be a valued member and an excellent role model who has contributed significant time and effort in service of the Army.

Issue Reason:

Since becoming Platoon SGT, SFC.VicVegas has truly stepped up to the plate in a big way. He is always willing to help out where he can, and always gets the job done. He has gone out of his way to assist me with ARCSC while my job prevented me to be as active as necessary, helping process and keep track of new recruits in my absence. He is someone I can always go and talk to when I need to bounce ideas off of or just need someone to vent to. He is more than deserving of this medal

The above have been on a regular basis Bumping ALL branch recruiting threads not just there own, They have not been asked to do so but choose to do so for the better of the clan. This is the type of dedication we all need here in Unknown Soldiers. At times when actual branch recruiters aren't bumping there own posts it's still getting done because of these guy's.
